It is officially the first day of spring, and for once, it feels like it in Louisiana! Baton Rouge is in bloom, the sun is out but not overbearing, and it is time to bring out the light fabrics, bright colors and fun accessories. To celebrate springtime, I have found you the perfect chambray top with bell sleeves that needs a home in your closet. My serious obsession with chambray has now met my new love of bell sleeves, and I just could not resist this top.
Chambray is one of my favorite types of fabric, because it is like a blank canvas to be able to pair with any color and achieve almost any look. It is a great layering piece and is lightweight enough to wear down here during the hottest parts of the year. It is exciting that it feels like springtime in Louisiana right now, because we don’t know how long that will last. We don’t have a typical four seasons year (unless you are talking Mardi Gras, crawfish, snoball and football seasons), so I don’t apply all of the “seasonal fashion rules”. Case in point – I wear white jeans whenever I want to.
I was in a pinch for a pair of white jeans, but I had just dropped some serious bucks on my Citizens of Humanity ripped jeans that I can’t stop wearing (seriously – see here, here and here). I knew I couldn’t do that again right away, so I picked this pair up at GAP for like $40! They are very comfy, and even though they do have some stretch in them, they don’t stretch out as much as some of my designer jeans. Jeans never fit me straight off the rack, so I think I am going to attempt a raw hem with these. Since I am still not shopping for Lent but still want to try the raw hem trend, I will just get out the scissors myself and see how it goes. Wish me luck!
Spring in Louisiana is also festival season, and there are tons of new things to check out in the upcoming months. While we are in full swing with spring football, I have 5 things you can do at LSU during the springtime. Sprinkle in a French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest and maybe even a trip to Gulf Shores for Mullet Toss, and you have already festival-ed your way straight into summer!
What is your favorite thing to do in the spring or event to go to? I am currently planning out my spring trips and new blog content, so I would love to hear!
