My mom gave me this tweed jacket from J. Crew for Christmas, and she nailed it with this gift. I have a hard time telling others what I would like for Christmas, but my mom always picks out something that goes in my closet and that I love. You can’t get much more classic than a black tweed cropped lady jacket, and as soon as I opened this present I couldn’t wait to get to styling it. Channeling Jackie O!
My mom describes this jacket as “Chanel like”, which I think it just too cute. I knew this jacket would find a home in my wardrobe for years to come, but even though I was so excited to style it, I wasn’t exactly sure where to start. I knew I wanted to have one outfit that was more casual paired with jeans, so I went straight to the source and loaded up J. Crew’s website to see how they styled it. Lucky me, I also owned the turtleneck they used to complete their model’s outfit. (This is not the sign of a problem…) Even though I had this jacket and oversized turtleneck already in my closet, I would have not paired them together myself if I wouldn’t have seen how the professionals did it. I’m glad Shea gave me the tip to checkout the website after he saw me trying on outfit after outfit.
One I got dressed, I knew my new Tory Burch York tote that Shea got me for Christmas would be the bag for this outfit. Its classic look paired perfectly with the jacket and gold buttons. I have been wanting a black tote for a while now, and Shea surprised me at Christmas with this one. I don’t like to tell him what I want for Christmas, because I always enjoy a gift he picks out on his own. It makes it more special to me…and he has a pretty good gift-giving streak!
I added my Jack + Lucy black fedora (linked options below for you), because I love to wear hats and don’t really have too many opportunities to do so on a regular basis. It is also a plus when you can stylishly coverup all of those flyaways! I am a big fan of neutrals right now, hints all the black and grey, but I thought my pink Ray-Ban aviators would be the best pop of color for this outfit. Once summer was over I had put them up for the last few months but was ready to get them back out!
All of these pictures were taken by the old Louisiana State Capitol in downtown Baton Rouge. The downtown area is really being revitalized right now and is a great place to go on the weekends and weeknights. We are getting more restaurants and things to do downtown, and I enjoy when we get a chance to head over there.
I have a dressier way that I am styling this lady jacket on the blog next week, so you can see how versatile it is. I really want to pair it with some boyfriend jeans and heels, and even though I own one pair of boyfriend jeans, I still have not figured out how to wear them. They are great for lounging around the house, but I want to dress them up. Please help!
