One of my favorite ways to style is to mix and match prints together. I learned how to mix and match prints like a pro after working at J. Crew twice and shopping there for over a decade. Now, I want to show you how you can look like a pro too! (Hopefully you think I look like I can mix and match prints like a pro!) I have been accused of looking like a catalog at times, and I take this as a huge compliment!
For this post I started with a pair of my favorite printed shorts from J. Crew. I matched them with some of J. Crew’s striped shirt options that were available this spring and summer. My favorite base to work with is stripes. I think pretty much anything goes with stripes, and it is a good place to start for mixing prints. J. Crew ALWAYS has an abundance of striped options no matter the season, so you can always pick something up. These shorts are no longer available, so I linked some newer options at the end of the post!
I bought these yellow wedges from J.Crew a few years back, and they add the perfect pop of color to an outfit. Yellow goes with a lot more than you might think! They also make my short self look a little taller and my legs a little longer. I’ll tell ya, I’m not upset about that!
If you want to be a little more understated, grab a printed accessory to go with your stripes base like my Liberty print floral purse or a printed scarf. This way your whole outfit is not only printed pieces, and you can just add the right pop of something different! I also added a little more color to this outfit with my Diba True Tradin Up strappy pink suede lace-up sandals (also known as the Perfect Summer Lace-Up Sandals)!
As I am writing this post, I have on leopard Nike tennis shoes with boyfriend jeans and a neon orange striped J. Crew deck shirt. I told you, I love mixing patterns and prints! Let me know your favorite way to mix and match prints and colors, so I can go back into my closet and put together some more outfits!
I would also like to give a shout out to my crew from this day of shooting outfits. My incredibly patient husband is behind the camera, and these three are my main ladies – Jones (lab mix puppy) and Chuy and Gracie (twin dachshunds). Without them, my life would be infinitely boring!
