I have wanted a pair of over-the-knee boots for a while, but I was convinced that short girls could not pull them off. OTK boots for most people would equate to thigh-high on me. I eyed a pair of black suede Tory Burch boots for two seasons before I finally pulled the trigger during her Black Friday sale. Not only did I snag a pair of TB boots for a great price, but I also found a new trend that I can wear no matter how tall (or short) I am.
These boots make me feel a little edgy, because they are totally different than anything I already own in my closet. I thought the best way for me to style them on my 5’2 frame was to pair them with a mini skirt. This dalmatian print skirt is an oldie but a goodie from J. Crew back in 2009. Yes, I have owned this skirt for 7 years. I love how all of my J. Crew garments have tags in them with the year and season that each piece was made. This is how I can prove to Shea that even though I might buy a lot of clothes, I keep them for a long time, which basically means they are great investments.
I like the OTK boots styled with the mini skirt, because I like the little peep of leg you get at the top of the skirt. I wore my cropped lady jacket (that I also styled here in a more casual way) and a cold-shoulder top. Shea bought me this rose gold Rebecca Minkoff purse a few years ago, and I just saw that it is now currently back in stock.
I had a feeling I would love these boots, so I don’t know why I waited so long to try them out. This year I am stepping out of my fashion comfort zone to try new trends and expand my closet with new styles. One trend I can’t wait to incorporate into my closet is all of the ruffles I keep seeing everywhere. They look so dreamy and dainty!
