I introduced you to a new local brand, Southern Football T-Shirts, earlier this week. Well, since I have already showed you one way to style their Louisiana Pride shirt for LSU gameday, I thought I would feature one of their shirts from their Sweet Baton Rouge collection to show how much I love our city!
One of the main reasons I like this brand, besides the insanely comfy t-shirts, is the fact that they have a lot of locally inspired shirts and use their brand to collect funds for various projects in the city. After the devastating flooding in our area over the summer, a new Louisiana term was born – the ‘Cajun Navy’. The Cajun Navy is the term given to all of the citizens in our community who went out during the floods to help save people and pets who were stranded by using their own boats and tools. The group is a total embodiment of what it means to be from Louisiana and immersing ourselves in our community.
SFT created a special Cajun Navy – Louisiana Strong shirt where they donate $5 of every shirt purchase to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation Flood Relief (BRAF): Louisiana Flood Relief Fund to directly help in the recovery of the flooded Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. They have already raised over $44,000 to help out the food bank through the sale of this shirt. How amazing is that?!
This is just another reason why it is great to shop local, so I had to show my support for the community I love with this Sweet Baton Rouge t-shirt.
I like how the brand offers the shirts for gameday and then other color options for their locally inspired shirts. When I saw this gray and white t-shirt I immediately thought of adding a pop of red, because Baton Rouge is Red Stick in french. I had the perfect necklace to go with this shirt – my Red Stick Love necklace from Mimosa Handcrafted, which is a local jewelry designer here in Baton Rouge.
This necklace was also inspired and designed to help our community after the flood. 100% of the proceeds for the first 150 pendants that were sold have been set aside for donation to www.togetherbr.org, an organization dedicated to promoting positive change and unity in the Baton Rouge community. Now, this piece has now been added to their permanent collection GOODS FOR GOOD with 10% of each sale donated to www.togetherbr.org in perpetuity.
I NEVER wear red lipstick. I have always wanted to be the girl that could pull it off, and I never thought I would be able to even put it on much less pull it off. I received a small tube of Stila’s liquid lipstick in deep red and finally thought this was the outfit to try out a red lip. I am really glad I tried it, because I think it came out looking pretty good! And, Shea told me I looked like a whole different person with my red lips!
I love a good hat, especially in the fall, and I received this Jack and Lucy adjustable wool hat from my September POPSUGAR Must Have box. I already had my eye on another black hat for fall, but when I received this one in my box it turned out to be the perfect fit!
This post turned out to be a lot longer than I anticipated, but I wanted to really focus on the local items and how these brands are making a difference in our community.
SFT also offers a Louisiana themed subscription box, the Lagniappe box. For those not familiar with some of our Louisiana terms, that means ‘a little extra’.Each month, the Lagniappe Box includes a brand new SFT t-shirt along with artfully selected local products. I am signed up to get the November box, so there will be a full review right here!
