One of the main things I look for in an item when I am buying clothing or accessory is versatility. I don’t want to invest in something that I can only wear one way or a limited amount of times. This is why if you look at my other posts, you see me wearing a lot of the same pieces each season. No shame in that re-wear game.
When I saw the print on this multi-colored J. Crew silk square scarf, I knew I had to have it for the summertime. Once I decided on all of the different ways I could wear this little beauty, it became of one my must-have summer style staples. So, if you are looking to add a pop of color to your outfit this summer or are looking to try a new trend, here are some ideas how you can incorporate a scarf into your laid back look.
IN YOUR HAIR
I loved wearing headbands growing up and had quite an extensive collection for a while. I love the look of gingham and polka dot printed scarves as headbands during the summertime. It’s like everyone is living in a country music video and reminds me of the South. I put my hair in a pony tail and tuck my front bangs behind my ears and then tie my scarf on. This would also look super cute with the tie at the top or side of your head as well.
ON YOUR PURSE
A scarf is not only an addition to your outfit, but it can also be an accessory for another accessory. You can mix and match colors and prints by adding a scarf to your purse or brighten up a neutral bag like this Cult Gaia wooden purse. It’s easy and needs no how-to instructions…literally, just tie it on! I also did this with another scarf earlier this summer in this post.
AROUND YOUR NECK
I think most ladies lust over the effortless chic look women from Paris exude, and this style makes me feel so Parisian Chic. I folded my scarf in half to make a triangle and then rolled it up to the width I wanted and did a quick knot at the front. You can move the tie around depending on where you want it to hang.
Even though summer is about to come to a close, I am going to continue multi-purposing my scarves throughout the fall. I am on the hunt for a good LSU purple and gold one that I can tie on to my gameday purse and use for my outfits on the sidelines this season.
