We are going to start this week off on a very bright note. This is THE summer ‘It’ dress for the season! (At least I think so!) I want this print as wallpaper, pillows, rugs, anything! Even though my feelings are that strong, I settled for this print in just a dress from Topshop in this bright palm print…for now!
You can easily wear this dress with minimal jewelry and a pair of heeled sandals for dinner or cocktails. That’s a given, and I have already worn this dress exactly like that. For our trip to Chicago, I decided to style it for walking around the city to put together a different look. I hope you don’t think I had an identity crisis once you see all of these prints.
We did A LOT of walking on this particular day in Chicago. We had planned for that, so I knew I wanted to wear tennis shoes. Now, I know you don’t automatically think of tennis shoes when you see this dress, but I think I made it work. These Nike Air Max 90’s are one of my favorite pair of tennis shoes I own, because I love the spotted print.
I always like to have a light layer with me, and that doesn’t necessarily mean a jacket. I have a few of these J. Crew deck shirts, and they make the perfect lightweight option if it gets a little cool wherever we are going. I like tying shirts or jackets around my waist to add another pattern or pop of color, and then you also have the functionality of being able to use it whenever you need to. I thought the navy and white strips paired perfectly with the bright pink and green colors in the dress.
It wouldn’t be a summer day without my Ray-Ban pink mirrored aviators and my J.Crew Panama hat. I love that I don’t have to wear makeup when I have these two accessories with me. (I also talked about this in my Must Have Summer Favorites post.)
Chicago is such a pretty city and we did so much exploring! By the time we made our way through the Field Museum, I needed some Dip n’ Dots to get me through until we got to Wrigleyville. And, what a view to enjoy some ice cream!! I feel like we did so much while we were in Chicago, but there is still more that I want to do next time we go. It is a great destination for a weekend trip, and I definitely recommend the city if you are looking for a getaway!
