Friday Favorites | Lady Jacket

It is so easy to get caught up in the trends with LIKEtoKNOW.it on Instagram, and then all of the sudden I have spent my budget for clothes on items that will not exactly stand the test of time. I am all for trying out new styles and looks, but when it comes to dropping some extra money on a piece of clothing, I feel like it should be something that will live in your closet for a long time. This leads me to this week’s Friday Favorites that focuses on the different ways you can style J. Crew’s Lady Jacket. BONUS: This jacket is now ON SALE!

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to shop smarter, and one way to do this is to buy items that are versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways. Last week, I showed you 3 different ways to wear a camo jacket, and this week I am showing you two different ways to style my lady jacket.

Favorite Things From 2016

Looking back on 2016, I put together a list of my favorite things that I purchased throughout the year. I scrolled through my Instagram posts from the last year to pick out these items, and it was hard to narrow my list down! I’m glad I did this because it helped remind me of some items that I haven’t worn in a while. I also linked to the blog posts where each item was featured.

Here are my favorite things from 2016!

Warby Parker Kimball Glasses
I probably receive more compliments on these glasses than anything else in my wardrobe, and these compliments come from men and women of all ages. They are my savior when I do not feel like wearing makeup, because they take up half of my face and add a distraction to the bags under my eyes. I will definitely purchase another pair of glasses from Warby Parker in the future.

Ray-Ban Aviator Flash Lenses
These sunglasses are the perfect pop of color for any outfit. I always wore my brother’s pair when were together and finally splurged for my own. There are so many colors to choose from, but I am glad my first pair was hot pink. Now, they have a rainbow version that I know I just NEED!

This was my favorite addition to my LSU gameday collection this year. You can customize this necklace to any state in a variety of colors. My purple Louisiana pendant received so many compliments throughout the football season.

This 3-in-1 purse became my go-to bag for away games and traveling with the team. It was perfect for the sidelines wearing it as a crossbody and then I could easily switch it into a backpack. This versatile purse saw a lot of wear in 2016.

Abercrombie & Fitch Camo Jacket
I hate that this jacket is now sold out (linked a men’s version above), because I wish it could be in everyone’s closet. I have worn it with sweats, sweaters and everything in between, because it is the perfect layering piece for us living in the South. Even if you can’t snag this exact one, buy a cute camo jacket now!

These were THE IT wedges last summer, and I saw them on just about every blogger out there. Towards the end of the summer I finally found them in stock in my size, and am so glad I invested in them. They are shoes you can wear during every season (we don’t have winter in Louisiana), and the best news is that they are now back in stock in multiple colors. Again, buy these NOW!

Best Dressed Wedding Guest

J. Crew Lace Two-Piece
I wore this two-piece to Easter Sunday mass, a baby shower, a wedding in Memphis and for Christmas Eve. When I didn’t wear both pieces together, I paired the lace skirt with a chambray top and once with a turtleneck. This two-piece helped me discover my love for the crop top and I’m never going back!

I bought this camera to use at Shea’s surprise 30th birthday party, and it was a huge hit. This little thing has made trips with us to New Orleans, Chicago, the beach and everywhere in between. We have a bowl of polaroid pictures on our coffee table from various events and vacations and guests love to look through them. We also use it as our ‘party trick’ when were are out, because we will start taking pictures of everyone and give them out!

I could not get enough of this bag last summer. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it, and I knew it would sell out. It went and out of stock throughout the summer, but now she has it made in so many different color combinations! This bag goes with so much because of the multi-colored tassels, and I am so glad I have it in my closet. I want one of each!

Here are five things that I am really loving right now! This week’s Friday Favorites list is inspired by some new local finds, free stuff and getting old (insert glasses emoji here, please.)

1. Southern Football T-Shirts

I dedicated two posts to this brand earlier this week, because they are one of the first local businesses to contact me about reviewing their product (SO exciting for me!) and because these t-shirts are insanely comfortable. They have options for LSU gameday and cover most Louisiana bases with these creative and comfy t-shirts. Dress them up or dress them down, and you have a go-to fall outfit!

2. Mimosa Handcrafted

Mimosa is one of my newest and most favorite jewelry designers right now. Madeline is inspired by all things Louisiana and Baton Rouge, and her beautiful jewelry collections are made right here in the Capitol City. Part of the proceeds from the Red Stick Love necklace pictured here was donated right back to the community after the devastating floods we experienced at the end of the summer. You can read more about the brand on her website and in this post I did!

3. May Designs Monthly iPhone Wallpaper

Here is one of my favorite things that doesn’t even cost you a cent! Each month May Designs comes up with a new calendar wallpaper to set as the background for your phone. I set my lock screen every month to the new calendar, and it really helps when referencing the date. I also like how at the beginning of the month I know to switch out my background for something new and colorful!

4. Sephora VIB Rouge Status

I just hit my VIB Rouge status at Sephora for the next year (this isn’t a task as hard as it sounds, unfortunately), and they celebrated by sending me this exclusive NARS mini blush. I am a huge fan of buying my beauty products from Sephora because of all of the free samples you get with each order, free shipping, great customer service and their point system where you can get some great beauty kits.

5. Warby Parker Glasses

I am still planning on do a full blog post featuring Warby Parker, but I love these glasses too much to wait to tell you about them then. Glasses start at just $95 for most prescriptions AND you get to try them on before you buy them. You get to pick out five different frames and have them shipped to you to try them on at home before you decide which one (or ones!) you like best. Then you ship them back and go online and pick out your favorite frames and upload your prescription. So easy and SO many cute styles to choose from!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Our game doesn’t kickoff until 8:15 on Saturday night, so it is going to be a late night/early morning in Tiger Stadium!

Here are few of my favorite things from the past week! A lot of them are pieces that helped me get gameday ready for this LSU Football season. Each week I will have some new items to feature for you.

1. Astor clear crossbody bag by Savvyroot

A clear bag is now essential for girls on gameday, and this Astor crossbody from local designer Savvyroot is perfect for football games. My favorite part about this bag is that you can easily transition it from your gameday look to multiple other types of outfits. You can read more about this bag and see how I styled it here! 2. DIFF Eyewear purple mirrored sunglasses

Gameday Ready: Clear Bag Policy I bought these sunnies at NK Boutique here in Baton Rouge, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them to wear on LSU game days. One of the reasons why I like them so much is because they are not something I would normally pick out for myself. I am a pretty standard classic Ray-Ban wearing gal. I have received SO many compliments on these glasses, and for each pair purchased the company donates a pair of reading glasses to someone in Africa. It’s a win-win, and who doesn’t love it when shopping helps others out??

3. Kendra Scott nail polish

I LOVE Kendra Scott’s jewelry, and now you can have the same jewel tones on your nails! I mean, how great of an idea is this?? KS totally nailed it with this new product. Our store in Baton Rouge is so helpful and full of great customer service, so I enjoy frequenting the shop. The ladies gifted me this bottle in pink agate, but I just had to go back and get the gold metallic too for gameday! These also make a great gift at an affordable price! I have already bought some for the ladies at work for birthday presents.

4. BaubleBar mini acrylic state pendant

Gameday Recap: LSU vs Missouri I have always liked BaubleBar, but I have now become a committed customer. Out of all the items I have bought for gameday this year (and that is quite a few…and countine!) this Louisiana necklace has received the most compliments. I liked it when I purchased it, but I loved it when it came in the mail. It is the perfect purple and gold! I also like how you can personalize it for your state and school.

5. Garrett Gourmet Popcorn

friday-favorites-2 While we were stuck on the runway on Saturday night / Sunday morning trying to leave Wisconsin, we snacked on Garrett’s popcorn while we watched movies on the plane. Their signature ‘Garrett Mix‘ is a perfect snack with the balance of salty and sweet. It combines their sweet CaramelCrisp^® with savory CheeseCorn and is flat out delicious. Their store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago always has a line out the door with people waiting for this. There are stores across the country and you can also order it online. My husband is glad I finally put this post up, so he could eat the popcorn after I took pictures!
