I absolutely despise blowdrying my hair. I love to run, but then can’t stand to think about having to do my hair once I’m done. Each time I wash my hair I come up with excuses about how I can just straighten my curls in the morning before work. When I do that, my hair is flat the next day plus I am always running out the door. I cut my hair shorter each year hoping that will also shorten the drying process and make it more bearable. I also buy all of the popular hair products (like this Drybar blow-dryer, which I do love) thinking that will get me excited about blow-drying my hair. Well, nothing gets me excited, and the only time I want to do it is when someone else does it for me.
Enter Drybar.
My grandmother, Mim, also lives in Baton Rouge, and my mom and sister came into town for spring break and Easter, and they had never been to Drybar. I was in charge of Baton Rouge activities and thought introducing them to their first blowouts would be a fun outing. I can’t remember the last time the four of us did something just us girls, so it was so fun to have a girls day out. It was also nice to be able to pick a place that four ladies of different ages with different styles of hair could all go together and leave happy.
So, here’s how it works and why I love it.
PICK YOUR STYLE
There are 10 styles you can choose from off the Drybar menu. You can pick the Straight Up, which is described as sleek with a little bit of volume, or go for loose beachy waves with the Mai Tai. I like the Cosmo-Tai, which is a combination of the Cosmo and the Mai Tai. The combos are perfect when you can’t commit to a decision, because you want one of everything. You can now also add a braid to any style you choose, which I am totally planning on getting during my next style session.
GET CLEAN
After you pick your style, you head to the shampoo room to get your hair clean and ready to go. I almost fall asleep here each time. Stylists use all Drybar products from shampoo to conditioner to all of the other essentials to get that perfect blowout. I purchased many of these products before my first trip to Drybar, and they gifted me some of their uber popular Triple Sec spray to try at home too. I also use the purple shampoo for my blonde coloring and bring some of my favorite products on the go with me whenever I travel.
RELAX
Now, this is the best part. All you have to do is relax while the professionals go to work! It definitely takes longer than when I blow-dry my own hair, because a legit stylist is perfecting it. You can sip on a mimosa, read magazines or play on your phone while they set your blowout. I also look around wishing my bathroom was this bright and white and clean with neatly stacked shelves complete with matching colorful products. Oh, to dream!
ENJOY YOUR BLOWOUT…AND REPEAT
Once they are done styling your perfect blowout, you can choose to have a slight, medium or tight hold on the style. Each time I get a blowout, and please don’t think I sound disgusting, my style lasts for about four days. I kind of like the loose waves and curls on the second day the best, and I always plan either multiple blog shoots or some type of event when I pay for a blowout. Girls, I am getting the most out of my money!
The four of us had such a fun time doing this together, and I’m glad I was able to introduce the ladies in my family to something new. I highly recommend a visit to Drybar if you have a special occasion coming up, have friends in town or just want to skip the boring process of doing your own hair. Hello! Also, if you are looking for a gift for a friend or co-worker, get them a blowout!
I’m already ready for another girls day out with these very special ladies, but I am not sure how long that will be since we live in three different states. That is why this particular outing at Drybar was more fun than usual. The ladies at the Perkins Rowe location in Baton Rouge made us all feel special and had everything ready for us when we got there. It was top notch service for sure! Let me know if you have been to Drybar and if you use any of the products at home!
