New Orleans Wedding

Live Local, Style Live Local, New Orleans, Wedding July 12, 2018

Shea and I recently celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary this week, so I thought I would go back and update this post with all the details from our New Orleans wedding. It has been such a fun four years together, and each July 12th we love to look back at our wedding pictures and video and go through the day again.

It really was the best day ever (that’s what our koozies said!), and I would not change a thing. To us, it was the most perfect New Orleans wedding.

Live Local | Tread BR

Live Local Health, Lifestyle, Live Local March 1, 2017

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to literally get my butt back in gear, and thanks to local fitness studio Tread BR, I was able to get myself back on the workout track in January. Then, full disclosure here, Mardi Gras happened. Now that today is the start of Lent, I am not only getting back to the studio, but I am also helping one of you get back on track with me!

I have one month of unlimited classes to give away to Tread BR for one lucky reader (keep reading to see how to enter). Lent is like a whole new New Year for me (if that makes any sense to you), and I think this is the perfect time to reassess your workout plan of action and get up and go!

WHAT IS TREAD BR?

Tread BR is a local fitness boutique here in Baton Rouge that offers a variety of workout classes. The team at Tread strives to offer an experience rather than just a standard workout class. Tread BR’s founder, Nicole Williamson, focuses on three main components – fitness, personal experience and activewear.

Nicole and her team also pair up with other local organizations and businesses in town hosting pop-up shops and other events. Tread is about building a community through the people you workout with, who you meet at the studio, the Tread BR team and others in Baton Rouge. Everyone from the fitness instructors to the regulars made me as a newbie feel right at home. Going to a brand-new class by yourself can be intimidating, but the atmosphere at Tread was welcoming and easy to have fun.Keep Reading

Friday Favorites | Local Makers

EVD Favorites, Live Local Gift Guide, Live Local December 16, 2016

There are so many wonderful local designers and makers here in Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana. This week’s Friday Favorites is dedicated to the talented designers that I frequent when looking for gifts this holiday season and just to pick something up for myself. I think it is always important to celebrate your local community, and I have had the pleasure of working with some of these brands this year. I hope to collaborate with more local designers to show everyone how the state of Louisiana is so special and unique.

And, bonus for all of you Baton Rouge and local residents, many of these talented ladies will be selling their designs and pieces at Saturday’s (December 17th) Mid City Makers Market!! Local Makers will be set up from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at the ELS Studio on the corner of South Eugene and Government Street. I am hoping to sneak away from work to go out and see all of the beautiful designs!

Mimosa Handcrafted

Madeline and Dawson Ellis are a husband and wife team joined by Courtney Gay. They each have a degree in landscape architecture and their brains are constantly spinning with creativity and curiosity, and they have lots of heart for what they do and why they do it. You can feel this with each pice of jewelry they produce, and proceeds from specific designs go straight back to our community. I love all of my Mimosa pieces, but am especially excited about receiving my essential oil necklace.

Southern Football T-Shirts

SFT reached out to me earlier this season to see if I wanted to try out a couple of their t-shirts. I jumped at the chance, and am so glad that I did. Meredith’s southern t-shirt company celebrates southern style and everyday life. Her designs are unique to the state of Louisiana and all things southern. Like Mimosa, SFT also has specific designs, like this Cajun Navy tee, that when purchased give a little lagniappe back to the community.

Savvyroot

Owner Celeste Austin taught herself leather accessory production from start to finish and built Savvyroot from the ground up.  Savvyroot offers luxury leather goods and accessories at an affordable price so everyone can enjoy the quality of a nice bag. Her Astor clear crossbody bag was a huge hit this football season and sold out multiple times. Bonus: Celeste is offering FREE SHIPPING for the remainder of the month of December.

Sallie Bynum Anzelmo Art

I originally fell in love with Sallie’s gold oysters when I first saw them at L.D. Linens and Decor here in Baton Rouge. I then found her Etsy shop and have been a fan ever since. Her artwork is what drew me in, and although I don’t have a piece of her art yet, I have multiple other hand-painted and unique items. Sallie is a full-time artist living in Baton Rouge, and before she took her art and decor business full-time, she taught art for nine years. Her pieces exude southern hospitality!

Kismet Cosmetics

Kismet’s philosophy is to develop wearable, on-trend colors while maintaining a smaller offering so you are not overwhelmed by too many options. The company consistently gives back to the community and all products are made in the USA. This local cosmetics line is a fan-favorite of many ladies down here in Louisiana, including the LSU Golden Girls.

Kat Noel Designs

This mom of three describes making jewelry as a way to keep her sanity, and I’m happy she used this as her outlet! Kat’s pieces are so unique from their design to the types of gems and stones she uses to complete each piece. The jewelry looks pretty in photos, but once you see it in person you can feel how well-made and unique it really is.

Live Local Live Local November 9, 2016

In Louisiana we use the term lagniappe (pronounced lan-yap) to signify a little something extra. It’s just another way we show the uniqueness of our state. One of my favorite local brands, Shop SFT, has entered the subscription box scene with their own unique spin featuring their Local Lagniappe Box.

I introduced you to a new local brand, Southern Football T-Shirts, earlier this week. Well, since I have already showed you one way to style their Louisiana Pride shirt for LSU gameday, I thought I would feature one of their shirts from their Sweet Baton Rouge collection to show how much I love our city!
