LSU Game Day Outfits: November Sideline Style

Gameday, Style Gameday Outfits, LSU, Outfits, Sideline Style December 5, 2019

Well, November was a fun month for the LSU Football Team! We finished the regular season undefeated with a perfect record of 12-0. On the way to a perfect regular season, our players and team set records left and right and are still rewriting the LSU Football history books. It is an unbelievable feeling to see all of the hard work our players, coaches and support staff have put into this program become something historical. It really means so much.

Even though the regular season is over, we still have to get our gameday outfits ready for the post-season! And, to me, that means fancy, a little more over the top and possibly some sparkle, because we are headed to the SEC Championship this weekend AND have more games to play after that!

LSU Game Day Outfits: October Sideline Style

Gameday, Style Gameday Outfits, LSU, Outfits, Sideline Style October 31, 2019

It was another exciting month for the LSU Tigers! We went into our second bye week of the season undefeated at 8-0 and moved into the top spot of the AP rankings. We still have a lot of football left to play this season, so I don’t like to look ahead too much, but these past two months sure have been special!

Before our trip to Mississippi State, I created THE LSU GAMEDAY SHOP where I collect all the purple, gold and tiger print clothes and accessories on the internet and put them in one place for Tiger fans to shop! I had so much fun putting this together, and I update it a couple of times a week with new items and remove out of stock items.

When it comes to LSU game day outfits, I feel like I had a pretty strong month in October. I loved the tiger print skirt that I wore to the Florida game, and I wore these Millie Mae Collection earrings for three out of four games this past month. (For the other game I wore this pair from the same collection.) All of her designs are offered in a variety of colors, and I find them to be very lightweight and stylish. You can shop the collection with a 15% off discount using the code “emilydixon15” (case sensitive). I was also gifted my first set of BuDha Girl bangles from one of my favorite local shops, Simply Chic Boutique, and I now know what the hype is all about surrounding this brand. They are a little pricy, BUT you get nine bangles in a set and they are weightless, soundless and waterproof. I think they are a great accessory investment.

As always, thanks for following along! If you need some more LSU game day outfit inspo, you can find last month’s gameday outfits in my SEPTEMBER SIDELINE STYLE post!

LSU Game Day Outfits: September Sideline Style

Gameday, Style Gameday Outfits, LSU, Outfits, Sideline Style September 29, 2019

It’s the end of September and the Tigers are 4-0 after putting together a historical month of LSU Football. LSU has scored more points than any other team in the country through four games, AND they have scored more points through four games than any other team in SEC history. Seriously impressive. I also got to see LSU beat the Longhorns in my home state of Texas and check off another SEC stadium when we went to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.

I have a few highlights from my sideline style and LSU game day outfits this September, including my Mimosa Handcrafted tiger cuff to pair with my tiger pendant and tiger earrings (I think I need the tiger ring now too!). I am constantly wearing these pieces on repeat. I found my newest favorite pants to wear on the sidelines, in the office and everywhere in between. I was introduced to some new jewelry brands like Lisi Lerch and the Millie Mae Collection and instantly fell in love with their gameday pieces.

As always, you can find all of my LSU game day outfits on my Instagram each week as I put them together, and I save them in a “gameday outfits” highlight over there too. I also introduce you to new game day brands and pieces as I find them throughout the season in real time in my LSU Gameday shop, so if you need some tips, I got ya covered over there!

Top 5 LSU Football Memories from the 2017 Season

Gameday, Life in Football LSU, Working in Sports August 28, 2018

With only five days to geaux until the LSU Football season officially kicks off, it’s time for me to look back at my five favorite memories from the 2017 season. Every year there are a handful of memories that stand out from the others, but let me tell you, there are always a lot to choose from!

I enjoy writing this post each season, because it reminds me of all the amazing opportunities I have working for the Tigers, and it excites me knowing that I have another season ahead of me to fill with even more memories. Here’s to season No. 7!

YOU CAN READ MY TOP 5 LSU FOOTBALL MEMORIES FROM 2016 HERE!

5. FLORIDA + TENNESSEE GAMES

One of the things on my bucket-list is to watch the Tigers play in every SEC stadium. In 2017, I was able to knock two stadiums off my list AND watch LSU win in both of them. The Florida game is always one of my favorite games on the schedule, and there is a ton of football history between these two teams. It took me 30 years, but I finally experienced my first game at The Swamp. We had just lost the weekend before and needed a big win. It was early. It was hot. It was so humid. It was everything I expected. And we won.

It’s hard to check the SEC East stadiums off of my list, because we don’t play all the teams each year. I was so excited to see Tennessee on our schedule last season knowing I would get to experience Neyland Stadium in the fall. The last time LSU played the Vols was in 2011, so I knew this opportunity wasn’t going to come around again for a while. Despite horrendous weather conditions (I sat in the press box so didn’t get a drop of rain on me!), the Tigers won AND I got to meet Smokey. And Coach O gave an epic halftime interview. It was a solid day.

4. INTERVIEWING ALEX BREGMAN

I am so thankful that my job allows me to interview so many interesting people and former Tigers on a regular basis. I have interviewed some big names over the years, but when Alex Bregman showed up on the sidelines, I’ll admit that I was very excited and a smidge nervous. Not only was Bregman a standout baseball player at LSU, but he had also just won the world series with the Houston Astros after the city was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Bregman is quickly becoming one of the most popular faces in baseball and is representing LSU along the way.

3. THE COMEBACK GAME

LSU was coming off a very emotional win at Florida before hosting 10th-ranked Auburn in Tiger Stadium. After only 17 minutes of play, Auburn was up 20-0 over LSU. Things were not looking good, but we came back to score 20 unanswered points – overcoming LSU’s largest home deficit against an SEC opponent in history. The Tigers won 27-23 thanks in part to a stellar catch by Russell Gage and a punt return for a touchdown by DJ Chark. This was a fun one to celebrate!

This game also holds a special place in the hearts of two families that I met during this weekend. I put together one of my favorite stories ever about the Perry and Boswell families and their unique connection to the LSU-Auburn game. You can read more about them here.

YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT THE COMEBACK GAME HERE!

2. PLAYING BYU IN NEW ORLEANS

A week before the 2017 season opened, Hurricane Harvey devastated my hometown of Houston, Texas. We were scheduled to open the season playing BYU in Houston, but plans changed since NRG Stadium was being used for disaster relief. The game was moved to New Orleans and no one skipped a beat. If any fanbase knows how to handle a hurricane, it’s LSU and South Louisiana. It was truly remarkable to see the city of New Orleans and the LSU community come together to help Houston with flood relief while also putting together a major college football game in very little time. People stick together down here, and we are reminded of that often. Also, opening the season by shutting out the Cougars 27-0 wasn’t too bad either!

1. ENSMINGER NAMED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

There was no way any other moment was going to beat out this one! I have worked for Steve Ensminger for six years, and there are not many better feelings than watching someone you believe in achieve one of their ultimate goals. Obviously LSU Football is extremely special to me, but its the people that I have met along the way here that truly make this place home. Coach Ensminger and his family are some of those people, and they have become family to me too. After breaking records as the interim OC in 2016, I can’t wait to see what the season has in store for our offense!

— LAGNIAPPE —

As always, a season provides WAY more than five memories, and even though this blog post is dedicated to my five favorite moments, I can’t leave the following out.

2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP REUNION

We celebrated the 10-year reunion of the 2007 National Championship team by bringing the players back for a weekend full of LSU Football. I was in school for the Tigers’ last championship win, and it was so much fun to catch up with old friends on the team and Coach Miles. It was great to watch everyone reconnect after a decade and celebrate such a special season.

DOUBLE NO. 18’S

Coach O let the cat out of the bag earlier in the spring, giving the jersey to Christian LaCouture, but that actually led to an unexpected No. 18 announcement during fall camp. To everyone’s surprise, a second No. 18 jersey was awarded to fullback JD Moore. Moore came to LSU as a walk-on, earned the starting fullback spot, received a scholarship AND kept a 4.0 while majoring in Architecture. To see the surprise on his face and hear how much the jersey meant to him was a very emotional moment.

7 LSU PLAYERS DRAFTED TO THE NFL

This is a story that NEVER gets old, and fortunately for us, this is a common theme each year. LSU has more players in the NFL than any other university in the country. We had another seven Tigers get drafted after the 2017 season, and that’s why we are #NFLSU.

As always, I’m here to keep you in the loop with everything LSU Football related throughout the entire season! You can find me here, on Twitter, on Facebook and on Instagram with consistent updates throughout the season.

— LSU GAMEDAY GUIDE: WHERE TO SHOP —

This was clearly going to be the biggest section of the guide, so I broke down how to shop for the best gameday items in multiple posts. Thankfully, local Baton Rouge boutiques stock up on purple and gold throughout the football season providing me with many places to shop.

Don’t worry if you are an out-of-town Tiger fan, because you can shop many of my favorite local brands online and/or through their social media pages.

GAMEDAY OUTFITS

I am often asked where I buy certain items I wear on gameday, so I wanted to come up with a way to share items and outfits on here as I find them. Gameday outfits down here in the South are a thing. It’s not just a wear a t-shirt from the bookstore type of outfit. There is thought, color coordination, accessorizing and a lot of other factors that go into SEC ladies’ outfits on Saturday. It’s basically like a southern runway.

— MUST-SEE TIGER TRADITIONS —

VICTORY HILL | Two hours before each home game, the players and coaches walk down Victory Hill to the locker room. North Stadium Drive is crammed 20 people deep on each side of the street waiting to see the Tigers come down the hill. It is a long-standing tradition, so line up in enough time to get a good spot and high five the team!

MIKE THE TIGER | LSU is home to the only tiger mascot who lives on campus. Mike VII is in his second football season at LSU and was rescued from a habitat before making Baton Rouge his home. He’s only two years old, so he is often out playing or swimming in his pool. He spends a lot of time outside in his habitat on gamedays so all fans can enjoy and visit him!

TIGER ONE VILLAGE | Located in between the PMAC and Tiger Stadium, Tiger One Village is a one-stop shop for your pregame festivities. You can visit Mike the Tiger, shop at the SportShop, watch the team and band walk down Victory Hill and sometimes even catch a concert! Oh, and the food options are endless. Crawfish pies are my favorite!

TAILGATING | Sports Illustrated recently crowned LSU as “America’s Greatest Tailgate”. If you have ever participated in this legendary Tiger Tradition, then you know why LSU is much deserving of this honor. LSU typically has night games, so the festivities get started early in the morning and go all the way until kickoff. There’s delicious food, huge setups, cocktails and anything else you would imagine at the best party ever. Some people stay tailgating during the game and watch the Tigers play on TV.

TIGER STADIUM PREGAME | It’s a party in the stadium even before the game kicks off. From one hundred thousand people signing along to ‘Callin Baton Rouge to the Golden Band from Tigerland playing the famous first four notes of the Fight Song to the team running out of the tunnel before kickoff, you are guaranteed to get chills. There’s a reason we are constantly rated as one of the best game atmospheres in all of sports. Watch this video for a little taste of what to expect!

— LSA GAMEDAY GUIDE: WHERE TO WATCH THE TIGERS —

Obviously, the BEST place to watch the Tigers is in Tiger Stadium. But, whether it’s an away game or you need a place to pregame and/or celebrate a Tigers’ win, here are my favorite places in Baton Rouge to watch LSU games. Since I am at every game – home and away – I would love to hear your picks for where to watch the Tigers, so I can include them on this list!

WALK ON’S BISTREUAX AND BAR | Walk On’s was voted ESPN’s #1 Sports Bar in America in 2012, and this local original has only gotten better since then. Started in Baton Rouge, Walk On’s now has 21 locations across the Southeast (and more coming!) with the original one located right off of campus. They have tons of televisions in the bar and throughout the restaurant and a menu perfect for gamedays. There are also parties and concerts each home gameday at the location by campus on Burbank Drive.

SUPERIOR GRILL | Superior has one of my favorite cocktails in Baton Rouge, and has a fun gameday atmosphere. Both locations in Baton Rouge have televisions throughout the restaurant, drink deals and other specials on LSU gamedays.

THE OVERPASS MERCHANT | The Merchant is also home to one of my favorite local drinks – the Merchant Mule. They have a remodeled patio with outdoor televisions and drink and food specials on football gamedays.

THE VARSITY | Located at the North Gates of LSU, The Varsity is literally steps off of campus and has been around for years. The venue regularly hosts concerts and events, but they set up a huge screen and have food and drink specials for LSU Football games.

HOW TO BUY TICKETS | The best place to buy football tickets is LSUtix.net. Through this website, you can purchase individual game tickets and renew current season tickets. LSU is now also offering special packages that include certain game tickets to where you don’t have to pay for a full season. Find all the information you need to know about LSU Football tickets here.

WHERE TO PARK | Like most college football games, parking can sometimes be a pain in the butt. The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have at finding a parking spot. Use this map to find where the free parking is at!

WHEN TO ARRIVE | All gates in Tiger Stadium open 2 1/2 hours prior to kickoff, but like I mentioned above, the earlier you get on campus the better. There is so much to experience on LSU gameday, so if you only come in for one or a few games a year, take advantage of being on campus and in Tiger Stadium!
