Settle in, Tiger fans, because this LSU Gameday guide is a long one!
We are currently in the middle of the 2018 LSU Football season, and I am here to make sure you know how to do LSU gameday right. From shopping for gameday outfits to where to watch away games and how to get your LSU Football news, it’s all here in my Complete LSU Gameday Guide.
Please leave me a comment with anything I left out, because this is going to be continually updated each year. I want this to be a comprehensive guide to all things LSU Football, but I can’t do that without your help. If you have a good tip or must-see tradition, let me know so I can include it in this LSU Gameday Guide!
— LSU GAMEDAY GUIDE: WHERE TO SHOP —
This was clearly going to be the biggest section of the guide, so I broke down how to shop for the best gameday items in multiple posts. Thankfully, local Baton Rouge boutiques stock up on purple and gold throughout the football season providing me with many places to shop.
Don’t worry if you are an out-of-town Tiger fan, because you can shop many of my favorite local brands online and/or through their social media pages.

LSU GAMEDAY SHOPPING GUIDE
This was a fun project for me and a total labor of love. While putting this shopping guide together, I was able to look back on the gameday outfits that worked (and didn’t work) for me the last few seasons plus shop some new items to wear this upcoming fall. I want to share my wealth of LSU shopping knowledge with you, so this is what you will find in my LSU Gameday Shopping Guide.

GAMEDAY OUTFITS
I am often asked where I buy certain items I wear on gameday, so I wanted to come up with a way to share items and outfits on here as I find them. Gameday outfits down here in the South are a thing. It’s not just a wear a t-shirt from the bookstore type of outfit. There is thought, color coordination, accessorizing and a lot of other factors that go into SEC ladies’ outfits on Saturday. It’s basically like a southern runway.

GAMEDAY YOUR WAY
Purple and gold are the geaux-to colors of choice around here, but some people might have a different preference. I have a whole section of my LSU Shopping Guide dedicated to styling gameday your way, meaning many of the items I buy to represent LSU can be purchased in multiple color combinations. Obvi, purple and gold is the best option.

— LSU GAMEDAY GUIDE: HOW TO GEAUX CLEAR —
This is an essential topic when it comes to getting ready for LSU Gameday. For the third season in a row, Tiger fans have to Geaux Clear when bringing bags into Tiger Stadium and other LSU Athletics events. I have seen way too many people walking back to their car on gameday because they didn’t bring an approved bag. Don’t worry, I have found all the cute + practical clear bags for you, including the options below!

— MUST-SEE TIGER TRADITIONS —
VICTORY HILL | Two hours before each home game, the players and coaches walk down Victory Hill to the locker room. North Stadium Drive is crammed 20 people deep on each side of the street waiting to see the Tigers come down the hill. It is a long-standing tradition, so line up in enough time to get a good spot and high five the team!
MIKE THE TIGER | LSU is home to the only tiger mascot who lives on campus. Mike VII is in his second football season at LSU and was rescued from a habitat before making Baton Rouge his home. He’s only two years old, so he is often out playing or swimming in his pool. He spends a lot of time outside in his habitat on gamedays so all fans can enjoy and visit him!
TIGER ONE VILLAGE | Located in between the PMAC and Tiger Stadium, Tiger One Village is a one-stop shop for your pregame festivities. You can visit Mike the Tiger, shop at the SportShop, watch the team and band walk down Victory Hill and sometimes even catch a concert! Oh, and the food options are endless. Crawfish pies are my favorite!
TAILGATING | Sports Illustrated recently crowned LSU as “America’s Greatest Tailgate”. If you have ever participated in this legendary Tiger Tradition, then you know why LSU is much deserving of this honor. LSU typically has night games, so the festivities get started early in the morning and go all the way until kickoff. There’s delicious food, huge setups, cocktails and anything else you would imagine at the best party ever. Some people stay tailgating during the game and watch the Tigers play on TV.
TIGER STADIUM PREGAME | It’s a party in the stadium even before the game kicks off. From one hundred thousand people signing along to ‘Callin Baton Rouge to the Golden Band from Tigerland playing the famous first four notes of the Fight Song to the team running out of the tunnel before kickoff, you are guaranteed to get chills. There’s a reason we are constantly rated as one of the best game atmospheres in all of sports. Watch this video for a little taste of what to expect!
— LSA GAMEDAY GUIDE: WHERE TO WATCH THE TIGERS —
Obviously, the BEST place to watch the Tigers is in Tiger Stadium. But, whether it’s an away game or you need a place to pregame and/or celebrate a Tigers’ win, here are my favorite places in Baton Rouge to watch LSU games. Since I am at every game – home and away – I would love to hear your picks for where to watch the Tigers, so I can include them on this list!
WALK ON’S BISTREUAX AND BAR | Walk On’s was voted ESPN’s #1 Sports Bar in America in 2012, and this local original has only gotten better since then. Started in Baton Rouge, Walk On’s now has 21 locations across the Southeast (and more coming!) with the original one located right off of campus. They have tons of televisions in the bar and throughout the restaurant and a menu perfect for gamedays. There are also parties and concerts each home gameday at the location by campus on Burbank Drive.
SUPERIOR GRILL | Superior has one of my favorite cocktails in Baton Rouge, and has a fun gameday atmosphere. Both locations in Baton Rouge have televisions throughout the restaurant, drink deals and other specials on LSU gamedays.
THE OVERPASS MERCHANT | The Merchant is also home to one of my favorite local drinks – the Merchant Mule. They have a remodeled patio with outdoor televisions and drink and food specials on football gamedays.
THE VARSITY | Located at the North Gates of LSU, The Varsity is literally steps off of campus and has been around for years. The venue regularly hosts concerts and events, but they set up a huge screen and have food and drink specials for LSU Football games.

— LSU GAMEDAY GUIDE: LAGNIAPPE —
HOW TO BUY TICKETS | The best place to buy football tickets is LSUtix.net. Through this website, you can purchase individual game tickets and renew current season tickets. LSU is now also offering special packages that include certain game tickets to where you don’t have to pay for a full season. Find all the information you need to know about LSU Football tickets here.
WHERE TO PARK | Like most college football games, parking can sometimes be a pain in the butt. The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have at finding a parking spot. Use this map to find where the free parking is at!
WHEN TO ARRIVE | All gates in Tiger Stadium open 2 1/2 hours prior to kickoff, but like I mentioned above, the earlier you get on campus the better. There is so much to experience on LSU gameday, so if you only come in for one or a few games a year, take advantage of being on campus and in Tiger Stadium!
