Welcome to my website! I am new to the personal blogging experience, but I regularly follow multiple blogs and social media accounts. I feel this websiteand blog will be a neat way to showcase my work and chronicle some of the things that happen in my life in a very real way. When you work seven days a week for one of the best college football programs in the country, a lot of unique things happen. However, they aren’t always so picture perfect (or instagram perfect)!
Working is a big part of my life, but there is always the challenge of balancing work with family and having the occasional social life. As I get older and more experienced within the media and sport industries, I feel like I have tips and ideas – from sideline style and resume reels to learning how to work in a male dominated career – that can help other young women looking to find out what they want to pursue in life.
Sports media is unique, and I am excited to share some of the ins and outs of how I navigated my career in the last ten years in this field from a student to a full-time professional. One of my missions with this blog is simple – to celebrate REAL! I am not picture perfect on camera and that is just real life!
I’m sure if I have a “Who Wore It Best” post, it will include me and either a football player or a coach, because often times I find myself wearing the same thing as they do to work. And, a #tuesdayshoesday post will probably be a pair of Nikes more times than fancy heels. I don’t often pack for cool vacations in coordinated travel bags throughout the year, but I do get to pack a bag to spend 18 hours at the stadium on a Saturday working multiple jobs. I think those types of tips can be valuable to others doing the same thing.
Again, welcome! I hope this can become a place for sharing ideas and tips for women whether you work in sports or the media or you are just trying to figure out what you want to do in the future! Everyone can learn something from somebody, and I hope I learn a lot through writing this, and hopefully meeting some new people too.
Talk to y’all soon!
